GUMPERT Apollo

Conceived in 2000 by Roland Gumpert, a sales manager for Audi-VW, the apollo is a street legal racecar that began production in 2005. Powered by a bi-turbo intercooled version of the Audi 4.2-liter V8 used in the R8, the apollo is a rear-wheel drive two-seater constructed on a tubular frame with fiberglass – or optional carbon fiber – body panels to reduce weight considerably. The car tips the scales at only 2,400 pounds, Oh and Gumpert boasts the car is so perfectly balanced that it could drive upside-down in a tunnel if driven over 190 mph :\
